Electrical Installations

AJS provides design, installation, commissioning, testing and inspection services from project concept to completion. The services we offer have expanded to meet the requirements of our diverse client base. They include:

Our teams are security checked appropriate to the works they carry out together with any additional checks that are client specific, including works for blue light clients. Where required we undertake additional security clearance for works in sensitive areas.

Our core service package is electrical repairs, maintenance, testing, certification and installations, giving our clients peace of mind with a full 24/7 support package.

Our field teams are equipped with our mobile working solution and location tracking system, enabling the nearest engineer to respond to emergencies quickly.

We utilise the same system to support our routine maintenance teams in the field, giving them essential information on each job whilst delivering live status updates to our clients.

We also use digital solutions for compliance certification meaning that all documentation is completed on site by our engineers and fully checked before being delivered to our clients.

Electrical Testing and Certification

For all our clients, total compliance is essential whether it be in a housing, commercial, retail, healthcare or other type of setting. We undertake thousands of periodic inspection, testing and certification procedures every year, delivering fully industry compliant EICRs to our clients.

All our engineers are equipped to undertake immediate C1 and C2 category repairs ensuring we can deliver a safe and regulation compliant installation in one visit.

As part of our service, we are able to manage testing programmes for our clients which allows us to schedule each service visit logistically. This maximises our productivity and reduces time spent travelling between jobs. We also carry our inspections out of hours and at weekends to meet the requirements of working families.

Developing Compliance through knowledge

Our high quality installation and service standards are driven by our commitment and compliance to the industry regulations  Electricity at Work Act, CIBSE and all relevant British Standards. All our EICR engineers have the most recent regulation edition training.

All engineers must complete refresher courses at our dedicated training facility each year, where they are tested on any recent additions to the regulations.

Our operatives and staff are security checked to various levels depending on types of works they carry out together with any additional checks that are client specific.

Emergency Lighting

We design, install and maintain emergency lighting systems to meet all current regulations and the needs of our clients.

These systems are designed to operate fully automatically when the main power supply fails and to give illumination of a sufficiently high level to enable persons of all ages to evacuate the premises safely.

We work closely with clients to develop a regular maintenance and training plan that meets current regulations and is fit for purpose should an emergency occur.

Alongside scheduled maintenance, we also conduct simulated power failures to ensure the equipment functions correctly when it is needed most.

Evacuation drills

We also organise evacuation drills for our clients staff and occupiers of the building. This helps minimise any danger or panic in an emergency situation. AJS has engineers that specialise in this key area, they support our clients by using their expertise to develop bespoke testing programmes, depending on the size and type of building, and its use.

We always make our clients aware that although there are standard regulatory recommendations for different types of emergency lighting systems that relate to each category of building. These are minimum safe standards and that a higher standard may be needed to meet the particular uses of a clients building. This advice and expert knowledge comes as part of our offering to our clients.

We provide comprehensive emergency call out services 24/7, 365 days a year for our contracted public sector and commercial clients. Our clients benefit from our fast response times with live job status updates through the links of our IT / communications network, and vehicle tracking systems.

Lightning Protection

Lightning is unpredictable and can cause serious damage to property or even fatal injury in the worst case scenario.  Installation of lightning protection systems as well as lightning surge protection can prove invaluable to a building or home, and those living there.

We offer Installation, service and repairs to lightning protection systems to help protect a building and the electrical and electronic equipment inside which can suffer significant damage from a surge caused by lightning. 

Surge protection has become an important part of lightning protection systems. It was always assumed that if a building had the appropriate protection it would be protected from surges due to lightning strikes but this is not guaranteed. This is why regular maintenance is essential.

Maintenance plan

We work closely with our clients to establish the most suitable and efficient regular maintenance and servicing plan, as well as the design and installation.

The installation of lightning protection systems is becoming increasingly driven by building insurers. Having a system that is not functioning correctly could cause problems when making a claim for damage or loss caused by a lightning strike. We will assist you with the development of a maintenance programme to ensure that if necessary, you can demonstrate that all regulatory steps were taken to mitigate against the effects of a damaging lightning strike.
